Welcome to Harper Eyecare, Formally Hornstein Opticians est 1962, Hamilton’s most established practice since 1962. We are an independent practice which means we spend time with you to thoroughly examine the health and condition of your eyes. Allowing us to tailor the perfect optical solution to your needs. No matter how complex the prescription may be, we will take our time to get it right.

Our staff will give you their time, attention and experience while looking after your sight. Due to being part of the local community for over 50 years, we understand that all our patients are different. Treating you as an individual allows us to provide you with exceptional eye care. Our experienced Optometrists will be with you every step of the way, completing every aspect of your examination.

Gary Harper
Owner Optometrist
Gary has been practicing optometry for over 20 years, qualifying in Glasgow, he was then awarded the prestigious College of Optometry prize for the highest overall mark by a Scottish graduate.
Keen to develop his clinical skills Gary was one of the earliest optometrists to hold a Diploma in Independent Prescribing which allows him to prescribe a full range of medications to suit various eye conditions.
Gary is also experienced in shared care glaucoma, diabetic retinal screening, and low visual aid assessments.
Gary has 3 children, enjoys most sports and coaches youth football at grassroots.

Donna
Donna has been with Hornstein’s since 2020 and has over 15 years optical experience in both the multiple and independent sector.
She has the patience of a saint and will always help you find the perfect frame!
Away from optics Donna enjoys precious family time and socialising with her ‘girlies’.’
